Emergency Care and Injury Management

After the successful delivery of the Emergency Care and Injury Management project to the Midwest and Great Southern regions of our state, the Department of Health WA  extended the funding agreement with Farmsafe WA for another 12 months. This funding made possible the delivery of this fantastic project to the South West region in March.

Farmsafe WA recently returned from the successful delivery of Emergency Preparedness workshops alongside our key partners, without whom these workshops would not be possible. Workshops were held in Capel, Margaret River, Augusta, Pemberton, Bridgetown and Collie and were open to all community members. This year saw our highest attendance numbers to date!

Participants were involved in interactive skill stations each led by St John Ambulance, WA Police and WA Department of Fire and Emergency Services (WA DFES). This year Farmsafe WA was fortunate to have Steve Taylor from Prompt Safety Solutions, offer his valuable time and expertise to present a skill station on behalf of Farmsafe WA.

The skill stations covered topics such as practical first aid, responding to and managing an emergency situation, being prepared for an emergency and the role the various key organisations play in the community. Following feedback from attendees, it was found that the workshops were a great opportunity for community discussion between both residents and service providers.

We would like to thank all of those involved in making the workshops a success, including Capel, Pemberton and Collie Country Women's Associations, Boranup Cafe and Bridgetown Anglican Parish for providing wonderful catering.  Door prize sponsors Steel Blue, Par 3 Golf Course, Elders Insurance, Capel Fresh IGA, Cape Mentelle, Margaret River Chocolate Company, Boranup Cafe, Augusta IGA, Pemberton Retravision, Pemberton Lavender and Berry Farm , Harvey Fresh, Bridgetown Mitre 10 and The Cidery. Final thanks to Capel Community Centre, Augusta Centennial Hall, Pemberton Sports Club, Roche Park Recreation Centre and the St John Sub Centres in Margaret River and Bridgetown for providing venues for the workshops.
